N. Thomas Thursday Morning Long Time Resident of Winnfield Was Former Land Agent Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday for Simeon Norwood Thomas, 80, who died at his home here 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 1952 following a brief illness. Rites were conducted at the First Methodist Church by the Rev. P. M. Caraway, assisted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor, and interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. A native of Harrisonburg, La., in Catahoula Parish, Mr. Thomas was born July 24, 1871. He was employed as a land agent by the Louisiana and Arkansas Railway Company for the past 40 years, retiring six years ago, and had made his home in or near Winnfield for about 50 years. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Winnfield. Pallbearers were J. M. Hyde, P. K. Abel, George Smith, Henry Gorham, Oscar Lattier, and Dr. F. C. Wren. Mr. Thomas is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. G. W. Jones of Pine Bluff, Ark., Mrs. E. O. Danielson of E. St. Louis, Ill., and Marjorie Thomas of Winnfield; a stepdaughter, Mrs. E. D. Black of Kermit, Texas; a stepson, Aubrey Ryals of Winnsboro; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
