J. M. Thornton, 60, Prominent Resident Of This Parish, Dies

J. M. Thornton, a highly esteemed Sikes resident and successful farmer, died
at his home Sunday following a lingering illness.  Some time ago, Mr. Thornton
had suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered.

Mr. Thornton is survived by a brother, W. E. Thornton and two sisters, Mary
and Martha Thornton, of Sikes, and other relatives.  He was about 60 years of
age.

The funeral services were held at Mineral Springs Monday afternoon with the
Rev. Joe Adams officiating.
