Thurmond Rites Set Tomorrow

Everett T. Thurmond, 54, of Calvin, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 1979 at
his home after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Calvin Baptist Church with
the Rev. Leonard Free, Rev. Don Turner, and Rev. N. T. Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern
Funeral Home.

Mr. Thurmond was a retired school teacher after 27 years service, a member
and treasurer of First Baptist Church of Calvin, and a member of the Winn
Parish School Board.  He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Sara Brock of Calvin; one niece, Nancy
Elizabeth Brock; one aunt, Mrs. Lois Thomas of Winnfield; one uncle, Walter
Everett of Ball, La.

Pallbearers will be Benny Martin, Lelve Franks, W. E. Carpenter, T. J.
Bankston, Ronald D. Canerday, Charles L. Bates, Leon Carpenter, and George
Walker.
