Wiley E. Thornton Funeral Rites Held Tuesday

Funeral services were held for Wiley E. Thornton, 80, Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 11
a.m. in the Friendship Cemetery near Gaars Mill with W. S. Emmons officiating.
Interment was in the Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Southern
Funeral Home.

Mr. Thornton was born on Feb. 2, 1873 at the old family home in Dodson, Route
1.  He died on Feb. 28.  He was a retired farmer and has spent most of his
life in the Dodson-Gaars Mill area.

Survivors include his wife, Alma, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Huffman,
Dodson, Rt. 1; three sons, Hilton of Pasadena, Texas, Harold of Birmingham,
Ala.; and James H. of Alexandria, and one sister, Miss Martha Thornton of
Winnfield.  He had ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
