"Uncle Jules" Tisdale, 80, Dies At Home Near Tullos Funeral services were held at the family residence near Tullos Thursday at 2 p.m. for J. G. "Uncle Jules" Tisdale, 80, who had lived in Winn Parish for 60 years prior to his death at 4 p.m. on April 6 following an illness of four years. Services conducted by the Masonic order preceded interment in the Magnolia Cemetery. The funeral was conducted by the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Pallbearers were Arthur Burns, George A. Williams, James T. Hemphill, all of Georgetown Lodge No. 298, F. & A. M., and Otto Kees, John Lofton, Lorenza Valentine of Charles F. Buck Lodge No. 260, F. & A. M. Honorary pallbearers were C. W. LaCroix, E. A. Maxey, W. D. Miller, Jr., E. Doyle, Jody Baker, H. D. Stewart, Earl Spivey, and Dick Claunch. "Uncle Jules" was born in New Orleans on July 1, 1868 and came to Winn Parish about 1890. He lived for a while in the vicinity of what is now Calvin and married Emma Miles. He had been residing at his home about 2 miles from Tullos in Winn Parish for 45 years. Surviving him are his widow, three sons, Albert, or Arp, Tex.; Sterling G., of near Tullos, and Phillip, of Joyce; three daughters, Mrs. Geneva Johns of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Jessie Newton of Comstock, Tex., and mrs. Tom Morrow, of near Tullos; two brothers, Walter of Bogalusa and Edgar of New Orleans, and one sister, Mrs. Maud Daniels of Denver, Colo. Fourteen grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren also survive. Mr. Tisdale was a member of Charles F. Buck Masonic Lodge and the LaSalle Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons at Urania.
