Mr. Townsend was a native of Winn Parish and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War I and retired from the Louisiana Highway Department. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with the Rev. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield. Survivors include three brothers, Henry Townsend of Joyce, Charlie Townsend of Newton, Texas, and Jesse Townsend of Lake Charles; a sister, Mrs. S. G. McDaniel of Winnfield. Pallbearers were Harper Terrill, Willard Harlan, Kenneth Tarver, James Hardy Smith, Dudley Shell, and Denton Shell.
