Edward Townsend Killed In Auto Accident Sept. 23

Edward Ray Townsend, 21, U. S. Navy, former resident of Joyce, La., was killed
in an automobile accident September 23, according to information received here
this week.  His body was carried to his wife's home, New York City, for
burial.

Mr. Townsend was the son of R. C. Townsend of Winnfield, and Mrs. Jack
Cockerham of Rochelle.  He had served in the National Guard two years and had
recently returned from overseas duty.

Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Townsend is survived by a six month old son,
one sister, Mrs. Odus Bruce of Rochelle, and two brothers, Cecil Townsend who
is serving in the U. S. Army, and Glen Townsend who is stationed in California
with the U. S. Navy.
