Townsend Buried At Old Union April 7 Last rites for Mrs. Emma Townsend, 83, who died in the Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital, Pineville, April 6, 1950, were held at the Old Union Church at Joyce, last Friday, with Rev. H. H. McBride and Rev. Ralph Frazier officiating. Burial was under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mrs. Townsend, a native of Winn Parish, had resided the past years of her life near Montgomery and at Monroe. She was the widow of the late A. J. Townsend of Joyce. Surviving are one son, Clyde Townsend, Orange, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. M. C. Spikes and Mrs. F. B. Williams of Montgomery; Mrs. C. P. Lucas, Cloutierville; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. The following grandsons acted as pallbearers: Carl Thompson, Bryan Williams, Clarence O'Neal, Hershel McDaniel, Louis Taylor, and Tollie Slayter.
