All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Gayla Traina Dies Saturday From Gunshot Wound Gayla Traina, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Traina of Jonesboro, died early Saturday in a Shreveport hospital. She was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Johns, and the niece of Mrs. G. C. Jeter of Dodson, where she was well known by a host of relatives and friends. Gayla was accidentally shot at her home by a playmate, Dec. 27. She was given emergency treatment at a Hodge clinic and transferred to a Shreveport hospital where she never regained consciousness. An eighth grade student at Jonesboro-Hodge High School, she sustained a head wound from a charge of a .20 gauge shotgun during Christmas vacation. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Dodson Baptist Church with the Rev. J. D. Wagnon and the Rev. Kenneth Morrison officiating. Burial was in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Survivors include her parents, a brother, Jody, and a sister, Toni Lynn, all of Jonesboro; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johns of Dodson, and Mrs. Lena Traina of Monroe.
