Lloyd Tugwell Dies Of Heart Attack On Tuesday Final rites for Joseph Lloyd Tugwell, 70 year old retired Winnfield railroad man, were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Mr. Tugwell, brother of State Treasurer A. P. "Pat" Tugwell, died of a heart attack Tuesday morning while inspecting timber on his subdivision on L. and A. Hill near Winnfield. His body was found by a party of searchers after his family called when he did not return home. He was reported to have left his home about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, carrying a lunch with plans to spend the day checking timber no his land. He was found lying in a dried up creek bed with his coat folded under his head, where he apparently laid down when feeling the attack coming on. He had suffered a bad heart for sometime. A native of Smackover, Ark., Mr. Tugwell had lived here for the past 35 years and was employed as traffic manager with the local Tremont and Gulf Railways before his retirement. Final rites were conducted by Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie Tugwell; one daughter, Miss Martha Tugwell, and his mother, Mrs. R. W. Tugwell, all of Winnfield, and one brother, State Treasurer Pat Tugwell of Baton Rouge. Active pallbearers were Robert Reinhard, Houston Smith, Burton Williams, Jesse Corley, John T. DeLoach, and Ovey Trahan. Honorary pallbearers were Mack L. Branch, T. M. McMurdo, Cas Moss, Joe Heard, Shirley Jackson, Robert Heard, Shirley Jackson, Robert Heard, Sion Jenkins, A. L.
