Turner Dies in Swimming Pool, Gum Springs Bobbie Glyn Turner, 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Turner of Winnfield, died of a heart attack or a severe abdominal cramp while in the Gum Springs pool Tuesday at about 11 a.m., according to a report from Dr. Mosley, who was called to the scene as soon as the body was recovered about 30 minutes after the youth was missed by friends. Turner, an employee of the Venus Theater, was on a picnic with other employees of the theater from Winnfield and Natchitoches. Suffering from a heart ailment caused by an illness several years ago, young Turner had attempted to climb the Gum Springs tower, but had returned to the ground after he had reached half way. Dr. Mosley, who attempted to revive the boy, reported that only a small amount of water was found in the lungs. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, May 27, 1948, at 3 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church on Wright Avenue, with the pastor, Rev. C. M. Robinson, assisted by Rev. H. J. Mott and Rev.
