Upton Dies; Last Rites At Beech Creek Buford L. Upton, 70 years, 8 months, and 29 days, died in the Veterans Hospital, Alexandria, February 3, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel February 5 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Felix Williams and Rev. E. D. Roach officiating. Burial was in the Beech Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Upton was a native of Brookhaven, Miss., a veteran of World War One and a member of the Assembly of God Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dottie Upton of Winnfield; two sons, B. L. Upton, Jr., of North Carolina and Ed Upton of Eagle Pass, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Newsom and Mrs. Homer A. Jordan of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Mary Howe of Winnfield; and seven grandchildren. Acting as pallbearers were W. R. James, Ray James, Roy James, Louis James, Melvin James, and Rev. Willie James.
