All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 16, 1968 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Relative of Winn Residents Dies; Burial At Union Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Winnfield, for Mrs. Ruth Elaine Ussery, 49, a former resident of Shreveport and teacher for the South Cameron High School, who was killed in an auto accident Friday, May 10, 1968 at 9:20 p.m. five miles north of Creole in Cameron Parish. The Rev. Thomas Cox officiated with burial in the Old Union Cemetery near Winnfield. Mrs. Ussery, the daughter of A. W. Cockerham, Sr., who survives her, and the late Lela Gorham Cockerham, both natives of Winn Parish, was killed in the collision of a car and an oilfield truck. Survivors include her father, A. W. Cockerham, Sr., of Shreveport; one son, Charles E. Ussery, Arcadia; two daughters, Mrs. Kay Perritt, Arcadia, and Mrs. Nancy Hayes, Monroe; one brother, A. W. Cockerham, Jr., Metairie; three sisters, Mrs. Billie Langston, Jackson, Miss., Mrs. Mavis Biggerstaff, Creole, and Mrs. Hazel Campsi, Shreveport; and two grandchildren and a host of relatives in Winn Parish.
