All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 22, 1953 Winn Parish Enterprise Former Winn Resident Buried At Walker Church Funeral services were held at the Walker Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Friday, October 16, for Mrs. Mary Quinalty Varnado, 65, who died in a New Orleans hospital October 14. Services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. B. Wilkerson, assisted by Rev. J. F. Arceneaux, pastor of the Denham Springs Baptist Church, Rev. G. H. Horne, Methodist pastor at Walker, and Rev. A. N. Baum, pastor of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, near Montgomery. Burial was in the Walker Cemetery under direction of Hollabaugh-Seal Funeral Home of Baton Rouge. Graveside services were conducted by Mystic Star Chapter No. 108 Order of the Eastern Star, of which the deceased was a Past Worthy Matron. She was also a Past Worthy Matron of Queen Ester Chapter No. 62 of Verda, La., having joined the order there in her early twenties. She had been a member of the chruch for 56 years, having joined the Mt. Zion Church at the age of eight years and was active in church and Sunday school work until her death. A native of the Mt. Zion Community, she had lived in Livingston Parish for the past 35 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by one sister, Lucy Quinalty, of the Mt. Zion Community, two brothers, J. W. Quinalty of Mt. Zion, and J. T. Quinalty of Orange, Texas.
