Funeral services will be 2PM Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Winnfield with Rev. Tim Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Winnfield City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 19 from 5 until 9 PM at the funeral home and on Thursday from 9-12 at the funeral home. Mr. Varnell, retired Chief Master Sgt. with the U.S. Air Force was a disabled veteran of WWII, Korean and Vietnam wars, a lifetime member of the VFW, member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, member of the Miss- Lou and the Texas Blueberry Growers Association, and served a president of the Winnfield Senior High School Quarterback Club. Mr. Varnell is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Maxey Varnell. He is survived by one son, Terry Varnell of Winnfield, two daughters, Beverly Varnell Jones of Seminole, FL and Sandra Gail Varnell of Winnfield; three grandchildren, Sarah and Timothy Varnell both of Minden, LA and Melissa Ann Grant and husband Christopher of Springhill, FL.; One Great-grandchild Dillen Elizabeth Grant of Springhill, FL.
