I. A. Varnell, 77, Is Claimed by Death Jan. 19

I. A. Varnell, 77, well known Winn Parish resident, passed away at his home in
South Winnfield January 19, 1942, following a lengthy illness.  Funeral
services were held at Old Union Church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H.
B. Hysell and the Rev. Alwin Stokes of Winnfield.

He is survived by his wife, a brother, Augusta Varnell of Columbia; two
daughters, Mrs. G. Y. Lane of Winnfield and Mrs. Mollie McIlwain of
Shreveport; and six sons, Iley and Dan of El Dorado, Ark., Lawrence of New
Orleans, Silas and Leon of Winnfield, and Dallas Varnell of Shreveport.  He is
also survived by 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was a native of Winn Parish.
