Mr. Varnell was born in Winnfield in 1894, the son of I. A. and Tennie Varnell. He moved to El Dorado in 1921 and has worked there since, as an oil field worker. He was a veteran of World War Two, and a member of the American Legion and the Westside Baptist Church in El Dorado. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Brazzealle Varnell, three sons, Iley, Jr., of El Dorado, James of Bossier City, and Floyd of New Orleans; his mother, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, at 3 p.m. at Rumph Mortuary Chapel, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in El Dorado.
