Mrs. T. Varnell Succumbs; Rites Held Tuesday

Mrs. Tennessee Gorham "Tennie" Varnell, 90, died Monday, October 17, 1966 at
10:20 a.m. in a local nursing home.

She was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish and a member of the Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 18, in Hixson's Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. C. C. Martin and Rev. D. L. Callender officiating.  Interment
was in the Old Union Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral
Home of Winnfield.

Survivors include five sons, Sye Varnell, Dallas Varnell, and Leon Varnell, of
Winnfield, Lawrence Varnell of Kenner and Dan Varnell of El Dorado, Ark., two
daughters, Mrs. Minnie V. Lane of Joyce and Mrs. Mollie V. McIlwain of
Abilene, Texas.

A half-sister, Mrs. Georgie Howard of Winnfield, 23 grandchildren, and two
great grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were Joe Shelton, John Shelton, Owen Anders, Clint Johnson, Roscoe
Bice, and Ranel Brady.
