M. P. Vernon of Bunkie Claimed By Death Friday

M. P. Vernon, age 65, father of Miss Ethie Vernon, popular music teacher in
the Winnfield School, died Friday morning, January 27 at his home in Bunkie
after an illness of several weeks.  He was well known in Avoyelles Parish
where he was born and reared and where hisfamily on both sides has lived for
generations.  His father was a well beloved physician of that section and his
mother was Miss Ogden, a name prominent in Louisiana affairs for many years.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning from the Bunkie Methodist
Church by Rev. L. N. Hoffpauir, assisted by Dr. C. C. Wier, pastor of the
Winnfield Church.
