Sister of Three Winn Residents Dies in Alexandria

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, at the Sardis
Baptist church for Mrs. Lena Shumake Vicknair, 55, of New Orleans, who died in
an Alexandria hospital Monday, September 25, after a long illness.  Rites were
conducted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, the Rev. W. __________, and the Rev. C. M.
Robinson, and interment was in the Sardis Cemetery under direction of Southern
Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gillis Long, Edward Shumake, Charles Thorn, and Leon Shumake.
 

Mrs. Vicknair was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of New Orleans.

She is survived by her husband, C. A. Vicknair of New Orleans; one son, Romeo
Vicknair of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Floyd Long of Winnfield; and
three brothers, Will Shumake of Tannehill, Fred Shumake of Winnfield, and D.
T. Shumake of Texas.
