Mrs. J. Vickers, 55, Sikes Native, Dies October 5

Mrs. Gladys C. Vickers, 55, of Olla, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 5,
1968 at a Columbia nursing home following a lengthy illness.  She was a native
of Sikes.

She was a member of the Olla Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Olla Baptist Church under
the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home with the Revs. John Meek and
James Simon officiating.

Burial was in Hebron Cemetery near Sikes.

Survivors include her husband, James Quincy Vickers; three sons, James T.
Vickers of Barksdale Air Force Base, Cedric Vickers of Baton Rouge, and Earl
C. Vickers of New Mexico; one brother, Clyde Herring of Sikes; her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Fleet C. Herring; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Roy and Byrl Herring, Jessie Thornton, B. O. Williams, Bud
Hinton, and Pete Perdue.
