Vines Of Dodson Is Suicide Victim School Bus Driver Shoots Self Tuesday Morning Funeral services for Charles W. Vines, about 35 years of age, a member of a well known Ward Seven family, who committed suicide in front of his home in the Argola Community Tuesday morning at 10:30, were held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Dodson Baptist Church. Rev. James Horton of Pineville, the regular pastor and Rev. Rufus Kitchingham officiated. Interment was in the Hurricane Cemetery. Mr. Vines, it was reported, shot himself one time through the heart with a revolver, while seated in his school bus in front of his home. Bad health was given as the cause of the tragedy. The entire Dodson section was shocked when the news of the tragedy was learned, as Mr. Vines, who drives a school bus from Argola to Dodson, had made his usual route to the school house carrying the children as usual, and returned to his home. He secured the revolver purposefully, it was reported, to kill a stray dog. He walked to his truck, seated himself, and then fired the fatal shot. The bullet penetrated the unfortunate man's heart and death was instantaneous, Dr. J. F. Faith, coroner, pronounced it suicide. Mr. Vines was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic fraternity. He was a genial, all-round, accommodating man and has scores of friends who are grieved to learn of the tragedy. He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Betty Louise, Anna Floy, Betty Clyde, and Emma Charlene; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Vines, Dodson; the following brothers, Newton, S. N., and L. E.
