M. Willis, 83, Hebron Native, Buried Feb. 14 Funeral services for Jesse Malone Willis, 83, of West Monroe, were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Mulhearn Funeral Home chapel in West Monroe with Dr. Jerry Edmondson officiating. Born and reared in the Hebron Community, Mr. Willis was a school teacher and in later years he and his wife worked at Angola State Prison under the administration of Huey Long after which he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where he was employed by the government. He established a residence in West Monroe in 1958. Relatives in the Sikes and Hebron communities are the Thigpens, Walls, and Willis families. Burial was in the Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Willis died late Monday, February 12, 1973 at the St. Francis Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Winn Parish, a West Monroe resident since 1958 and a member of the Fairbanks Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Leola Fluitt Willis of West Monroe; one son, L. C. Willis, of Abbeville; one daughter, Mrs. Louis N. A. Seemann, West Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Kelly of Columbia and Mrs. Birdie Lyning of Ruston; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
