Walker Held At New Hope Funeral services for Felix D. Walker, 72, pioneer resident of the Dodson area, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at New Hope Methodist Church with the Rev. A. A. McKnight of Jonesboro and Rev. Neal of the Hudson Nazarene Church officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery. Mr. Walker, a resident of near Dodson for 48 years, died in a Monroe hospital Saturday night, March 17, after a week's illness following a heart attack on Sunday, March 11. He was a farmer by profession and had made his home for many years three miles southeast of Dodson. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Allen Walker; six daughters, Mrs. Ruby Harmon of Meridian, Miss., Mrs. Blanche Stewart of Jonesboro, Mrs. Clyde Baxter of Monroe, Mrs. Willie Smedley of Jonesboro, Mrs. Madge Doss of Monroe, and Mrs. Pauline Spinks of Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Tom Stewart of Hudson; and two brothers, Vester Walker of Oak Grove and Sid Walker of Slidell; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Marvin Smedley, Linwood Doss, Maurice Bryan, Sam Baxter, Earl Spinks, and Averette Stewart.
