All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: October 4, 1945 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Arnold Walker of Sikes Succumbs on Hunting Trip Funeral Services Will Be Held Friday At Mineral Springs Arnold Walker, 4__, who died Wednesday afternoon of a heart attack while on hunting trip six or seven miles from his home near Sikes, will be buried at the Mineral Springs Cemetery Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock under the direction of Southern Funeral Home. Mr. Walker, in company with his 16 year old son, C. A., and his father, George Walker, went hunting at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. They parted in the woods with the agreement to meet at their truck at dark. When Mr. Walker did not return to the truck his father and son obtained help from neighbors who assisted in the search and he was found dead at about 10 p.m. Mr. Walker was a well known farmer of Ward Three. For a number of years he operated a school bus for the Sikes School. He served as a member of the parish jury commission representing Wards Two and Three, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Helen Thompson; one daughter, Mavis Walker, student at L. S. U.; one son, C. A., of Sikes; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Walker of Sikes; five sisters, Mrs. Arnold Sikes, Winnfield; Mrs. Maxey Kidd and Mrs. Ted Parker, Sikes; Mrs. O. G. Mathis, Georgetown; Mrs. Jack Ellerbee, Tallulah; and two brothers, Lawson and G. E. Walker, Jr., of Sikes.
