He was a retired lumber company worker and highway department employee. Mr. Wallace was born Feb. 13, 1879 in Abilene, Texas. He was an employee of Tremont Lumber Company for several years and later of the State Highway Department. He was retired at the time of his death. Funeral services were conducted at the Hixson Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. H. J. Mott, pastor of Laurel Heights Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mattie Wallace of Lafayette Street in Winnfield; one daughter, Miss Una Lea Wallace of Monroe; one brother, G. G. Wallace, of California. Active pallbearers were Walter Silma, Dennis Curry, Clyde Jones, Glyn Guin, H. M. Worsham, and Joe Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were E. L. McGuffee, Judge Cas Moss, S. T. Fox, and Elton Mixon.
