S. Walker Dies In Mississippi Ed Walker, brother of William Stewart Walker, died Friday at Mississippi Baptist Hospital, Jackson, Miss., at age 71. Mr. Walker served as head football coach and athletic director at the University of Mississippi from 1930-1937. He also served as an assistant coach at Stanford, Iowa, and Princeton Universities. A native of Jonesboro, Mr. Walker was a star end at Stanford where he was All- American in 1927. He coached Ole Miss' first bowl team in the 1936 Orange Bowl. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 17, 1972. Burial was in Camden Cemetery, Camden, Miss. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Georgia Bell Walker of Camden; four other brothers, Pyburn E. Walker, Hodge, L. Z. Walker, Arcadia, Edwin O. Walker, Philadelphia, Penn., and Dr. George T. Walker, Monroe; and one sister, Miss Grace Walker, Jonesboro.
