Gordy Walker, former Alexandria businessman and member of a prominent Central Louisiana family, died February 2, 1961. He was 75. Death came while he was a patient at the Hodge Clinic, following a heart attack on Monday. Originally from the Dodson area of Winn Parish, he was connected with the Walker-Price Oil Company in Alexandria in the early 1930s and later operated a bus line between Alexandria and New Orleans. He retired some ten years ago and returned to the family residence in Dodson. Funeral services were held Friday, February 3, at 3 p.m. in the Dodson Methodist Church with the Rev. C. B. White and the Rev. L. M. Walding officiating. Interment was in the Transport Cemetery near Dodson under direction of the Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside. M. W. Walker, Jr., Edgar E. Walker, M. W. Gaar, D. C. Gaar, A. D. Wall, and James H. Galloway, all nephews of the deceased, served as pallbearers. Mr. Walker is survived by one brother, Morgan W. Walker, Sr., of Alexandria; one sister, Mrs. Iver W. Peters of Dodson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
