F. Walker, 72, Dies Suddenly Thursday, Oct. 28 Funeral services for John Fletcher Walker, 72, retired merchant of Winnfield, who died Thursday, October 28, 1965, at his home after a short illness were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. W. L. Holcomb, Rev. Willie James, and Rev. Lester Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Dry Prong Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Masonic graveside rites were conducted with Eugene Love in charge. A native of Dry Prong, Mr. Walker has been residing here for many years and at the time of his death was employed as office manager for Herman Gorham. He was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, No. 151, and Royal Arch Chapter No. 59 of Winnfield. He was past Worshipful Master and charter member of the Mangham Masonic Lodge. Mr. Walker was widely known for his jovial disposition and engaging personality. He had legions of friends. Surviving are his widow of Winnfield; a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Walker of Baton Rouge; a brother, James E. Walker of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Mattie Horton of Monroe; and one nephew who is in the Army stationed at San Antonio, Texas. Pallbearers were James Franklin, Ed Gassiott, Thurman Franklin, Norman Smith, H. F. Hicks, and J. P. Warren.
