Wallace Dies Saturday, Dec. 20 After Long Illness Funeral Services Sunday Afternoon In Local Cemetery Columbus William Wallace, 73, died in a local hospital Saturday, December 30, following an illness of several months. The deceased was born February 13, 1879 in Abilene, Texas and in early childhood moved to Winn Parish. For a long period of years he was employed by the Tremont Lumber Company at Joyce, and later by the Louisiana Department of Highways. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Hixson Brothers Chapel followed by interment in the Winnfield Cemetery, with the Rev. H. J. Mott officiating. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Wallace, one daughter, Miss Una Lee Wallace of Monroe, and a brother, G. D. Wallace of California. Active pallbearers were Walker Silman, Dennis Curry, Clyde Jones, Glen Guin, H. M. Worsham, and Joe Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were E. L. McGuffee, Judge Cas Moss, S. T. Fox, and Elton Mixon.
