Walters, 73, long time Winn resident and former Carey Salt Company plant superintendent, were held in the Hixson chapel here last Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. Mr. Walters died Thursday in a local hospital following a brief illness. A native of Chester, New Jersey, he came to Winnfield from Hutchinson, Kansas, 21 years ago to take over as plant superintendent at Carey Salt Company. He had formerly been employed with the Carey Company in Hutchinson, Kansas. In 1941 he retired and worked a small farm on Winnfield, Route Three. Mr. Walters' body was shipped Saturday to Hutchinson, Kansas, for burial on Monday. Survivors are four sons, Emerson, Richard, and Raymond, all of Winnfield, and Charles, stationed with the U. S. Army in Chandler, Arizona; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ray, of Los Angeles, Calif.
