All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 30, 1956 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Merwin Wardlow, Montgomery Bank President, Dies Odus Merwin Wardlow, 37, member of the Montgomery City Council and president of the Bank of Montgomery, died suddenly of a heart attack as he entered the bank on August 24, at 8:30 a.m. Wardlow was a veteran of World War II. He lost a leg on the beaches of Anzio, Italy, where he landed as a paratrooper. Survivors include his wife, the former Dorothy Sowers of Winnfield and two children, John Merwin, 10, and Kay Louise, 5; his mother, Mrs. O. F. Wardlow, all of Montgomery; one sister, Mrs. F. N. Brian of Alexandria; and one brother, Kent Wardlow of Montgomery. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 4 p.m. Saturday, with burial in Montgomery Cemetery. Pallbearers were Iley Brian, Donald Harrison, Thomas Harrison, G. R. Cilcrest, Bill McCain, and Will Fletcher.
