"Jack" Watts Succumbs; Rites Held Thursday Ardis Talton "Jack" Watts, 63, died Wednesday, December 16, in Winnfield General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John T. Watts. He was a carpenter belong to the carpenter's Local 18131 before early retirement due to ill health. Jack was a native of South Winnfield. Survivors include a brother, John A. Watts of Haughton and a sister, Jewel W. Buffington of Winnfield. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Gage of the Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. Wicker of the South Winnfield Baptist Church officiating. Acting as pallbearers were Arnet Garriss, James Russell, Harper Terrill, Henry Nugent, Henry Bates, Melton Hightower, Troy Smith, and H. E. Crawford. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Among the out of town friends attending the funeral were Howard Gardener and Edwin Simpson of Ruston, Mr. and Mrs. Carmon Johnson of Memphis.
