R. Watts Held September 28 Mrs. Mac Kennon Watts, 71, wife of J. R. Watts, Jr., of Winnfield, died at a local hospital at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, following a heart attack. She was a native of Dubberly, La., having been born September 9, 1889, but had spent most of her lifetime in Winnfield. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. W. L. Holcomb and Rev. R. H. Staples officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Waylon McDonald of Jonesboro, Eli Harrell, Elton Brewton, Newton Forrest, C. C. Carter, and Bobby Byrnes. Mrs. Watts was a member of the First Baptist Church and was still active in business, assisting her husband with the operation of the Watts Gin Company here. She was a first cousin to the former Governor Robert Kennon of Louisiana. Surviving are her husband, James R. Watts, Jr., of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. George E. Brewton, Winnfield; four sons, Jamrs R. III, Winnfield, Joe E. Watts, Jonesboro, A. W. Watts, Alcova, Wyoming, and John K. Watts, Shreveport; one brother, John Kennon of Dubberly; two sisters, Mrs. P. D. Burton, Lewisville, Arkansas, and Mrs. C. B. Kithens, Homer, La., and nine grandchildren.
