M. Webb Former Atlanta Resident Dies In Hospital Rites For Civic, Religious and Political Leader Held Sunday James Monroe Webb, age 86, former Atlanta resident and civic and political leader, died in an Alexandria hospital Saturday morning, April 9, about ten o'clock.; Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the Atlanta Cemetery, preceded by a short prayer service at the home of his daughter in Alexandria at which the Rev. Kearnie Keegan officiated. The Rev. Dr. B. C. Land, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, assisted by W. T. Norman, layman, and friend of long standing of the family, conducted the services and interment was in the Atlanta Cemetery. Mr. Webb resided in Winn Parish a number of years and represented his ward on the police jury serving that body as president during his term of office. He also served as justice of the peace in his ward and was a leader in all civic, religious and political activities of his community, ward, and parish. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Pearl Sutton, Mrs. Essie Berryman, of Alexandria, Mrs. J. B. Groves, Winnfield, Mrs. B Gresham, and Mrs. J. H. McElroy, of Atlanta.
