Webb, Shooting Victim Funeral services for Floyd C. Webb, 41 year old Winnfield timber worker who was killed last Thursday night in Campti, were held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Bethel Baptist Church. Webb was killed following a fight with Campti Town Marshal Webb Edmonds, who shot him through the heart with a .45 caliber pistol. According to Natchitoches Parish Coroner Dr. W. H. Pierson, the fight started when Webb allegedly some candy from the counter in Midway Caf and refused to pay for it. The caf owner's wife called the town marshal. Following an argument, Webb is reported to have attacked the marshal with a tire tool. The marshal shot and killed Webb after first firing a warning shot in an attempt to scare him. Funeral services were at the Bethel Church near Colfax, with burial in Bethel Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield. Survivors are one son, Floyd E. Webb, Jr., of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Norwood of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Voncille Long of Winnfield; his father, W. S. Webb of Winnfield; two brothers, Jim and Luther Webb of Winnfield; two half sisters, Mrs. Sam Boyett of Olla and Mrs. Dan Doherty of Winnfield; and one grandchild. Pallbearers were J. E. Reeves, Arnold Buchanan, Willie Doherty, Eugene Boyette, Chester Smith, and Douglas Thomas.
