All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 15, 1952 Winnfield News-American Shooting of Local Man Justifiable, Jury Determines A Natchitoches Parish coroner's jury has ruled the fatal shooting of a Winnfield man by Town Marshal Webb Edmonds was "justifiable homicide." Floyd E. Webb, Sr., 51 year old timber worker, died instantly at 9:45 p.m. from a wound inflicted by a bullet from the officer's .45 caliber pistol. Dr. W. H. Pierson, parish coroner, said the bullet entered the right side of Webb's back, coursed through the abdomen and the struck the right side of the heart. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bethel Church near Colfax. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery. Survivors are one son, F. E. Webb, Jr., of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Norwood of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Vonceil Long of Winnfield; his father, W. S. Webb, and stepmother, Mrs. Ella Webb, also of Winnfield; two brothers, Jim and Luther Webb of Winnfield; two stepsisters, Mrs. Tom Boyett of Olla and Mrs. Dan Doherty of Winnfield, and one grandchild.
