C. C. Weir, on Saturday, August 25, 1928, at her home in Houston, Texas. Although she had reached the ripe old age of 84, she was still the mother to a large family of children whom she had brought into the world, and the parting was just as sad as it would have been had she left them at any other age. While we sorrow with our dear pastor in his great loss, we rejoice with him in being the son of such a wonderful mother, and that she was permitted to dwell amongst her children for so long a period and minister unto them as only a good mother can. Only those of us who lost our mothers in early life can really appreciate what Mother Weir has meant to her children during her long and useful life. The passing of one of these old saints, while it leaves more distinctly a vacant place, like the passing of a giant oak that has shaded us all the days of our lives, makes Heaven more real, and the thoughts that mother is over there makes us more determined to so live that when our summons comes we will be permitted to dwell with her and the other loved ones who have gone before. Therefore, be it resolved that we deeply sympathize with Brother Weir in his great loss and pray that Heaven's richest blessings may rest and abide with him even down to a ripe old age in the labors for the Master. Respectfully, P. K. Abel Tracy L. Harrel Mrs. B. W. Bailey
