Welch Fatally Injured By Hit-Run Car Last Rites Were Held AT Forest Hill Saturday A hit and run car fatally injured Henry D. Welch, 49, school teacher of Gansville, Thursday night of last week as Welch stood beside his stalled car two miles from Jonesboro and attempted to flag a ride to town. Welch was found on the highway with compound fractures of both legs. He was rushed to the Shreveport Charity hospital where he died of shock and injuries at 2:55 p.m. Friday. Sheriff Phil Thomas of Jackson Parish said that a search was in progress for the unidentified driver of the car that struck Welch, but that there were not witnesses to the accident. Funeral services were conducted at Forest Hill Saturday. Surviving Mr. Welch are his father, W. H. Welch, of Forest Hill; three daughters, Mrs. John Fowler of Coushatta and Kloise and Virginia Welch both of Olla.
