Whatley, 55, Killed In Auto Collision Oct. 22 W. D. Whatley, 55, former carpenter of Winnfield, was killed in an automobile accident some time Wednesday near Orange, Texas, when the car in which he was riding collided with a truck. His brother, L. C. Whatley, of Winnfield, who went to Orange to make funeral arrangements, said that the information was meager on how the accident occurred. Ray Carson, driver of the car in which Whatley lost his life, was critically injured. Funeral services for Mr. Whatley will probably be held Friday afternoon at Lillie, La. Before leaving Winnfield about four years ago, Mr. Whatley pursuded the carpentry trade here for 15 years. He and Carson had recently gone to Orange to work. He is survived by his wife of Lillie, La.; two daughters; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Johnson, Winnfield, and Mrs. J. W. Johnson, Jonesboro; two brothers, L. C. Whatley, Winnfield, and Marshall Whatley, Ruston.
