David White, 69, Dies After Long Illness The Rev. David White, 69, of Winnfield, died at 3 a.m. Sunday, March 19, 1972 in a Winnfield nursing home following a lengthy illness. He was a lifetime resident of Winnfield and well known throughout Louisiana. He was a carpenter by trade and a minister of the Assemblies of God Church. He retired from the ministry due to his lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with the Rev. A. S. Davis officiating, assisted by the Rev. L. O. Waldon and the Rev. S. E. Lum. He was buried in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Survivors include his widow; two sons, William David White of Winnfield and Charlie R. White of Bossier City; three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Holston, Mrs. Roberta Waters, both of Winnfield, and Mrs. Jean Halphen of Alexandria; four brothers, Joe White of Intersection, City, Fla., Cecil White of Dodson, the Rev. Huey P. White of Goldonna, and Sonny White of Winnfield; a stepbrother, Leeland Gilmore of Winnfield; a stepsister, Mrs. Gertrude Branch of Winnfield; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Wallace, Mrs. Elda Adams, and Mrs. Betty Goodeaux, all of Winnfield, Mrs. Corine Edwards of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Margie Jordan of Shreveport; 15 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
