H. White Succumbs To Brief Illness Elzie H. White, 80, a retired pharmacist of Vivian, died Saturday afternoon in North Caddo Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born on January 21, 1889 of pioneer families in Winn Parish, Mr. White had lived in Vivian since 1938. He was married on June 10, 1914 to Mary Bell Murdock of St. Joseph. He entered the drug business in Naborton, moving to Oil City in 1922. He owned drug stores in Oil City, Mooringsport, Gladewater, Texas, Gilliam, and Vivian until he retired from the drug business in 1946. He then became engaged in insurance, real estate, and cattle. He was a member of the Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy for many years. Mr. White was honored several years ago by Loyola University as a Golden Jubilee alumnus and by the State Board of Pharmacy for 50 years as a practicing pharmacist. Mr. White also was cited for more than 50 years of membership in the Masonic Lodge. He was a charter member of the Vivian Kiwanis Club, which he once served as president, and was an elder in the Vivian Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. in Vivian Sunday with burial in the Chapel Wood Cemetery. Survivors are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bell Belaire of Lake Charles and Mrs. Clyde S. Andrews of Shreveport; one brother, W. M. White of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Otto G. Milam of Tullos; and three grandchildren, Aimee and Timothy Andrews of Shreveport and Penelope W. Lee of New Orleans.
