L. White, School Bus Driver, Ward Two George Lafayette White, 61, of the Curry Community, died in the Urania Clinic, May 8, 1948, at 2:45 a.m., where he had been a patient a week preceding his death. Funeral services were conducted Sunday under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlie McCartney, Baptist minister, officiating. Burial was in the Magnolia Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were nephews of the deceased. Mr. White was well known in Winn and adjoining parishes, having served for many years as driver of a school bus from the Curry community. He had been identified with civic and educational movements both in his community and the parish. A native of Winn, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John White. Surviving are his wife, principal of the Curry School and member of the parish library board; one brother, Edd White, Simms, La.; five sisters, Mrs. J. B. Curry, Olla; Mrs. J. T. Smith, Oak Grove; Mrs. Bessie Sanders, Tullos; Mrs. B. P. Miles and Mrs. Fred Whitten, Jena.
