W. White, Retired Merchant D. W. White, 80, retired merchant of Dodson, died in the Urania Clinic Tuesday, June 29, 1948, at 8 p.m. after a short illness. He had been in failing health for a number of years. Funeral services were conducted at Edmonds Funeral parlors, Jonesboro, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Born in Ward Three, Winn Parish, Mr. White was the son of the late Dr. Drury White and Mrs. Rebecca Kirkland White. At an early age he became a member of the Baptist Church and later a Master Mason. He was married to Miss Mary Thompson also of Ward Three, in about 1888, and they reared their family in Dodson where Mr. White was employed ten years by the Stovall Mercantile Company, and later for himself, which he conducted for fifteen years. Mr. White was twice married, his last wife having preceded him in death about two years ago. Surviving are two sons and three daughters, Elzie H. White, Vivian; Mrs. Dell Barnett, Mooringsport; Walter Miller White, Marshall, Texas; Mrs. Jack H. Amy, Silver City, N. M.; and Mrs. Otto G. Milam, Tullos. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and four brothers, A. J. White and Hardy White, Sikes; Arley White, Bastrop; and Crozier White, Winnfield.
