George Miles of Tullos officiating. Interment was in the Beech Creek Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Military services were conducted by members of the Winn Parish National Guard unit, of which the deceased was a member. James, a veteran of several years service in the Army, Navy, and Merchant Marine during World War II, died suddenly at his home near Winnfield at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 12. His death occurred shortly before he was scheduled to return to his Merchant Marine base at Port Arthur, Texas. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy B. White of Tullos; three sisters, Mrs. Harold Hall of Vidor, Texas, Mrs. Kenneth Cameron of Winnfield, and Miss Elaine White of Tullos; and three brothers, Riley, Johnny, and Barney White, all of Tullos. Members of the Winn Parish National Guard Unit who served as pallbearers and comprised a military firing squad at the grave were Lt. Clinton W. Allen, Lt. Bobby Joe King, Staff Sergeant W. F. Zimmerman, Pfc. Donald Berry, Pfc. Marvin Allen, Pvts. Alex Roberts, James E. Williams, James I. Cockerham, James A. Johnson, Huey P. Ponds, Samuel Rhymes, Glen Roberts, Alvin McAnally, Hezzie Creel, and Alon Gregory.
