He was 58 and a native of Winnfield. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Religious services will be at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. Survivors include his wife, Liliana P. "Lilly" Willis; two sons, Jerry Byron "Bubba" Willis, Jr. and Edward Anthony Willis, both of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Joyce Buxson of Alexandria and Ann Romano of Maryland; two brothers, James Willis of French Settlement and Tommy Joe Willis of West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Welby Byron and Louise Carter Willis. He was president of Jerry B. Willis & Associates, Inc. and vice president, secretary and director or Regulatory Insurance Consultants of Phoenix, AZ. He served as chief examiner and chief of the financial solvency division for the Louisiana Department of Insurance and as president and vice president of the Society of Financial Examiners. He was a certified examiner and served on the board of directors for Bradford National Life Insurance Co. in New Orleans and for National Affiliated Investors Life Insurance Co. of Alexandria. He served on the supervisory committee of Louisiana Capitol Federal Credit Union. Mr. Willis was a member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge and served on the board. He was a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M., Winnfield. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Acacia Shrine Temple. He was past area governor, Pi Kappa Phi at Northwestern State University. He was president of the Churchillian Society of Baton Rouge.
