No. 1 Mrs. J. L. Willis Succumbed Here Saturday Nov. 14 Funeral Services Were Held Sunday At The Baptist Church Mrs. Mary Theodosia Shumaker Willis, widow of the late J. L. Willis, died here Saturday, November 14, 1936, following an illness since last summer. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. B. C. Land officiating, assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes of the Presbyterian Church, and Rev. K. W. Dodson of the Methodist Church. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery with the Edmonds Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were R. H. Fletcher, C. M. Sanders, Hasson Morris, H. B. Bozeman, and Horace Peters. Mrs. Willis, who was 70 years, 4 months, and 22 days of age, was a native of this parish. She was born and reared in the Beech Creek community and lived the greater part of her life there. Thirteen years ago she moved to Winnfield with her family. She was a member of the local Baptist church. Surviving are three sons and one daughter, H. T. and Herbert Willis of Winnfield; H. L. Willis of Pineville; and Mrs. D. Jones, Winnfield; and four sisters, Mrs. S. J. Harper, Winnfield; Mrs. S. A. Weems and Mrs. W. H. McCarty, Beech Creek; and Mrs. J. N. Newsom of Chester. Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the last rites for Mrs. Willis were: Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McCarty and family of Beech Creek; Mrs. J. N. Newsom, Chester; Mrs. O. N. Anderson, Quitman; A. O. Willis, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Willis, Jena; Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Willis, Sikes; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Humble, Mr. and Mrs. Pharis, Dr. Claybrook Cottingham, A. M. Creed, Professor Carson, all of Pineville; Dr. R. E. McGill, Alexandria; Mrs. C. Jenkins, Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Opal Wagner, Tullos. Obit. No. 2 Mrs. Mary T. Willis Claimed By Death Last Saturday P. M. Widow of Late J. L. Willis, Funeral Services Sunday Following an illness of several months, Mrs. Mary Theodosie Willis, age 70, widow of the late J. L. Willis, died at her home here Saturday afternoon. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock from the First Baptist Church with Dr. B. C. Land, officiating, assisted by Rev. Alwin Stokes and Dr. K. W. Dodson, other local pastors. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. The deceased was born at Beech Creek, Winn Parish, and was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Shumaker. She was a devout member of the Baptist church. She is survived by three sons, H. T. Willis and Herbert Willis, Winnfield, and Horace L. Willis, Pineville; one daughter, Mrs. D. Jones, Winnfield; four sisters, Mrs. S. J. Harper, Winnfield, Mrs. S. A. Weems and Mrs. W. H. McCarty, Flat Creek, and Mrs. J. M. Newsom, Chester.
