C. Willis Life-Long Resident Of Winn Parish Dies Useful and Influential In His Community and Parish P. C. Willis, lifelong resident of Winn Parish, died at his home near Sikes Thursday, August 11 and was buried at the Hebron Cemetery Friday, August 12. Rev. W. E. Chapman of Columbia, an old friend of the deceased, conducting the funeral service. Though Mr. Willis had been suffering from organic heart trouble for three years or more his fatal illness lasted only one week. Mr. Willis was born in Winn Parish December 4, 1858 and was 68 years old at the time of his death. While operating his farm upon which he lived Mr. Willis took an active interest in any movement for the uplift and improvement of his community. He served several terms as police juror from Ward 3. He was a faithful and useful member of the Hebron Baptist Church. To his marriage with Mrs. Amelia Newsom Stringer ten children were born, all of whom are now living. They are E. C. Willis, Sikes, La., police juror from Ward 3; Alson and Loyd Willis and Mrs. N. D. Fordham, Sikes; Mrs. Altha Kidd, Monroe; Mrs. Myrtle Hunter, Shreveport; P. J. Willis, Bossier City; Sam, Fred, and Jack Willis, Shreveport. Winnfield relatives and friends attending the funeral Friday were Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Sowers, J. N. Sowers, H. B. Bozeman, Mrs. M. W. Bozeman, Miss Eva Bozeman, C. W. Walsworth, D. E. Sikes, and B. L. Anderson.
