Willis Services for Ross J. Willis were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 in the Chapel of Rabenhorst Funeral Home East with Dr. George Haile officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Mr. Willis, 76, of Baton Rouge, died Sunday, June 16, 1996 in Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Mr. Willis, a Sikes native, was a retired owner and manager of College Supply Book Store. He was a deacon of University Baptist Church, a member of the University Kiwanis Club, and a U. S. Army World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy G. Willis of Baton Rouge; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Nancy Willis of Baton Rouge; one brother and sister-in-law, Puckett and Rose Willis of Sikes, La.; and three granddaughters, Ashley, Kimberly, and Hope Willis, all of Baton Rouge. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lena Willis and a sister and brother. Pallbearers were Tom Willis, Samuel "Phant" Buckley, David Wilks, Fred Mathews, Charles White, and Glen Cater. Honorary pallbearers were R. D. Hayes, Frank Turner, Dr. Thad Broussard, Dr. Ron Radizkowski, Art Roberts, Keith Burchfield, Fred Ladner, and Max LaBranch.
