All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 17, 1942 Winnfield News-American John Barry Wilder, Jordan Hill Resident Buried April 8 At Corinth John Berry Wilder, 84 years eleven months and two days, was claimed by death Tuesday, April 7, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Wilder of Jordan Hill, with whom he had made his home for twenty-two years. He had been in failing health for the past few years and was confined to his bed for the past three weeks. The deceased was never married, was a member of the Methodist Church for more than 30 years, holding membership at Lewis Chapel. Funeral services were held at Corinth Church Wednesday afternoon, with the Rev. H. B. Hysell, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Winnfield officiating. Interment was in the cemetery where the church is located. Surviving the deceased are four nephews, T. J. Wilder, Jessie Wilder, of Jordan Hill; John Wilder of Sicily Island; Jack Wilder of Bastrop and one niece, Mrs. John Moore, Sr. of Moore, and a host of friends and other relatives. Pallbearers were Joel Nugent, Calvin Nugent, Lawrence Nugent, great nephews, Lavelle Nugent, a great great nephew, Houston Jordan and Ellis Jordan, close friends. Those attending the funeral of J. B. Wilder from elsewhere include Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Nugent and children; Mr. and Mrs. Joel Nugent and children; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Nugent and Doyle Nugent, all of Rochelle; Mr. and Mrs. Dolphus Nugent and family and Jack Nugent of Bastrop; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilder and daughter, Lorene, Mr. and Mrs. Earlsey Wilder of Bastrop.
